Derek started a business essentially by accident. He created a product (for himself) which solved musicians' problems. And they loved it.

In this book he outlines how he ran that company based on his own personal philosophy. Rather than following traditional business advice, he set out solely to make his customers as happy as possible.

People often assume (mistakenly) that getting the end result is what will make them happy.

When in fact, most of the joy in life comes from the process of doing the thing, not from having it finished.

He never wanted to have a big, successful business - he wanted to BE a skilled entrepreneur.

“Despite all your efforts put into features, pricing, design, partnerships, and more, people will choose one company over another just because they like the customer service. Customer service is not an expense to be minimized. It’s a core profit center, like sales. It’s where you should put your best people.”

Only 3 years ago we were in Locked down with no idea what was next.

I love this quote, yet I would have completed "PLANNING" to "PREPARING and PLANNING".

Visualisation is essential and highly underrated.

It is the best way to stay motivated.
Willpower alone does not work! IT DOES NOT! Willpower is nothing more than a dangerous fad-one that is bound to lead to failure.

Now preparing and planning are essential to get things done.

Note: if you don't have clear goals, planning is useless! You can't prepare a suitcase if you don't know where you are going and when!

Start with WHO, then GOALS
Only then plan.

I particularly like the little quote.

And even though expressing negative feelings is good, does it not mean you have to sleep in it for too long?

You can decide to control how long you will be angry ... and move on to something more interesting.

You can also decide to stay in the negative for longer ... explain to me, "what for?"
